How I cleared up my skin with a more natural, simple routine
Hi everyone! Welcome to my first blog post :) YAY!! My blog at the moment is about clear skin tips, in my upcoming blogs, I'll talk about how diet, exercise and stress affects your skin and how I was able to get rid of my acne for good.
So, your skincare routine. Something you do every morning and night, using cleansers, toners, serums and moisturisers. If you're staying consistent with your routine and your curious why these products aren't making your acne go away then you might have to rethink what products that you are putting on your skin. I've tried everything for my acne to go away. I tried all the special cleansers, oil-free products, pore strips, you name it! Nothing worked for me in my routine until I changed it to a more natural simple routine. I never had cystic acne but I had acne mainly on my forehead, cheeks and chin and I'd get blackheads, whiteheads, normal pimples and I had these painful pimples that I had gotten a day after I did sport (from all the sweat and blockage of the pores). Looking back at how much money I spent on so much acne products was a waste of time.
I'm no dermatologist but I'm giving you my advice with your skincare products that go with your skin type. My skin type is normal to oily, BUT I have sensitive skin which is even greater when it comes to what I can and can't put on my face :p
I decided to make my routine more natural and simpler when my dad said to me how I should just be using water to cleanse my face. WATER?!?! How could you just wash your face with water?!?!
I did some research on just how to get clearer skin using fewer products.
Here is what I included in my routine...
* I will link all the products I use underneath each topic
1. WATER
I use water as like my cleanser. When I get up in the morning I wash my face with lukewarm water as I'm just preparing my skin before I put on makeup. Using super cold water is refreshing but doesn't completely remove the dirt while hot water can irritate and dry out your skin. Warm water helps loosen the dirt but preserves your skin's natural hydrating oils.
2. VITAMIN E MOISTURISER
Using vitamins on your skin is very helpful. Vitamin E is an antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory properties. Its helped to reduce my acne scarring alongside with reducing how red my face gets. Just in general its the main thing that has changed my skin. I use it before I go to bed, but I never make sure to use too much like the one I use as it is a heavy moisturiser.
3. FACE HALO (REUSABLE MAKEUP REMOVER PADS)
I can not say how amazing these makeup remover pads are! They are so easy to use and they are saving you more money in the long run rather than buying single-use cotton pads. Face Halo is a reusable makeup remover pad, they've replaced my micellar water. They remove everything from powder makeup to foundation and even heaps of different mascaras. To remove your makeup, you simply cover the pad with warm water and then use the pad in a circular motion to take off everything. Then put them in the washing machine for them to be reused again and again!4. GOODNESS EVERY WEEK FACIAL SCRUB
I have been using this scrub once a week for more than a year now and it's my favourite scrub cause its a gentile exfoliator, my skin smells nice after using it and it makes my skin super soft. It's packed with powdered pumice, chia seed, avocado and coconut oils. I suggest this scrub especially if you have sensitive skin and your skin is prone to irritation after exfoliating. Goodness: every week facial scrub $12.95
5. TEA TREE CLEARING FACIAL WIPES
Ok, so, I tend to use these wipes when I'm super tired and I'm basically not in the mood to wash my face and I just end up keeping these wipes next to my bedside table so that before I snooze off so that I can quickly cleanse my face with the wipes. Tea tree is an amazing oil for your skin and especially acne. It helps to calm the redness, swelling and inflammation and prevent acne scars. Its antibacterial properties help to heal cuts more effectively and quicker.
6. MEDITERRANEAN ALMOND MILK WITH OATS INSTANT SOOTHING MASK
This mask is the best for when I wanna do a simple mask during my self-care Sundays. It's perfect because it is not tingling or a peel mask that doesn't even peel properly. It is supernatural and calming plus it smells super nice. A jar costs 35 AUD which may seem expensive but you can get about 20 uses out of it rather than buying the 7 dollar one-use masks at Sephora that don't do anything.
Also, remember to keep your hygiene up too!
I hope this helps and thanks for reading this post! Please share this post around to your friends that are dealing with acne too and need a helping hand! Also, comment on what content you want to see in the future!
